Different hotels have different check-in policies and procedures. For the easiest and smoothest check-in, it's best to communicate directly with your roommate to find a time to check in together.
Make sure to bring your valid government-issued ID, your credit/debit card, and the hotel confirmation code Roost sent you. The hotel may ask for these to verify your identity and cover incidental/extra charges.
If checking in first:
If you and your roommate are not able to check-in at the same time, the person checking-in first should simply check-in under their own name. You will be required to provide your ID and credit/debit card for incidentals. You should mention that your roommate will be checking in later and be reachable by phone if they have an issue checking in.
If checking in second:
Roost made your hotel reservation under both your name and your roommate's name. However, some hotels may require confirmation from the first person who checked in before they issue you your room key.
If you're having trouble checking in:
- Your roommate may have already checked in. Tell the hotel your roommate's name. The hotel should be able to locate your reservation as an "active stay" in their system.
- Provide your hotel confirmation code. This is listed on the hotel reservation confirmation Roost emailed you. You can also locate this code from the Trips Dashboard in your "Active trip".
- Call your roommate and have them verify to the hotel that both of you are sharing the room together. Your roommate's cell phone number will be listed on your hotel reservation confirmation.
